Lontrell Williams Sr. (the father of rapper Pooh Shiesty) is officially back in federal custody. While he was briefly granted a bond, he has been moved to a Texas facility as the federal government ramps up its case.
How he got out (The Bond)
Despite the heavy federal charges, a judge recently granted Lontrell Williams Sr. a $250,000 bond. His legal team argued that Williams Sr. was simply his son’s business manager and not the mastermind behind the alleged armed “contract signing” at the Dallas studio.
The Current Status: No Bond
- The Reversal: Though a Memphis judge initially set a $250,000 bond, federal prosecutors successfully blocked it.
- In Custody: He is currently being held by the U.S. Marshals and has been moved to Dallas, Texas.
- The Reason: Prosecutors argued he is a “danger to the community” and a flight risk due to the seriousness of the kidnapping and robbery charges involving Gucci Mane.
Why the Move to Texas?
The alleged crime took place at a recording studio in Dallas. Because of this, the Northern District of Texas has jurisdiction. He was transferred to be physically present for the trial and all upcoming federal hearings.
Was He With Pooh Shiesty?
- Same Case, Different Status: Both were arrested in the same sweep. While they are facing the same indictment in the same Texas district, Pooh Shiesty was denied bond from the start.
- Separation: Even though they are in the same state/district now, they are typically housed in separate units to prevent them from discussing the case.
Is He Snitching?
There is no evidence of cooperation. * The rumors started because he was briefly granted bond while his son was not.
- His lawyer, Bradford Cohen, argued that Williams Sr. was merely a business manager and wasn’t involved in the actual violence. The judge initially agreed, but the feds’ appeal ultimately kept him locked up.
What’s Next?
The “Mob Boss” and Pooh Shiesty are now both in Texas awaiting trial. The prosecution is focusing on surveillance footage and social media posts to prove the family worked together to force Gucci Mane into a contract release.
Summary: Williams Sr. is not out on house arrest. He is in a Texas jail, he is not snitching, and he is preparing for a high-stakes federal trial alongside his son.
The Transfer to Texas

Is he snitching?
This is the big question on social media, but there is no evidence of snitching. The bond was granted based on his lawyer’s argument about his specific role (or lack thereof) in the actual robbery, not because of any cooperation with the government. In federal cases, bond is often decided by a “danger to the community” assessment; the judge felt that with a $250k price tag and house arrest, Williams Sr. wasn’t a flight risk.
What do you think? Should the father and son’s cases be tried separately, or are they “guilty by association”? Let us know in the comments!
